NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING FM 917 Feasibility Study at BNSF Railway Joshua, Texas The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), in cooperation with the City of Joshua, will conduct a public meeting on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Plum Creek Elementary School located at 500 Plum St, Joshua, TX 76058. The purpose of the meeting is to share project information and obtain public input to be considered during development of the FM 917 at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) project. There will be no formal presentation. The public meeting will be an open house format, allowing visitors to come and go at their own availability. The feasibility study area includes limits within downtown Joshua extending from just west of Avenue F eastward to just west of Bentley Drive and from south of 14th Street northward to 12th Street. The proposed project alternatives include a railroad grade separation at BNSF along with realigning and widening FM 917 from the existing 2-lane section to a 3-lane section within curb and gutter. The study will also consider enhancements to accommodate bicycles and pedestrians. The purpose of the proposed project is to enhance safety and connectivity within the study area. Exhibits showing alignment alternatives and right-of-way constraints will be available for review. TxDOT staff and consulting engineers will be available to answer questions throughout the hours of the open house. They will assist in orientation and interpretation of the drawings and other material on hand, and discuss potential design and environmental effects of the project. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S. Code Section 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT. Written comments from the public regarding this project are requested through October 9, 2015 and will become part of the project documentation. Written comments may be submitted during the open house or either in person or by mail to the Texas Department of Transportation, Attention: Mr. Brian R. Barth, P.E., District Engineer, 2501 SW Loop 820, Fort Worth, Texas 76133. All interested persons are invited to attend. Persons interested in attending the public meeting who have special communication or accommodation needs are encouraged to contact Ms. Tanya Fitzgerald at (817) 370-6610 at least three (3) work days prior to the open house. Since the meeting will be conducted in English, requests for language interpreters or other special communication needs should also be made at least three (3) work days prior to the public meeting.
