PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE The Cullman Area Rural Transportation System is applying to the Alabama Department of Transportation for an administrative, operating and capital assistance grant under 49 U.S.C. Section 5311 of the Federal Transit Law, as codified. The operating grant will provide financial assistance for public transportation service for the residents of Cullman County during FY 2016. The service currently operates Monday through Friday, 7:00a.m. to 4:00p.m.; all residents, including wheelchair users must schedule service 24 hours in advance. Fares vary, based on location and distance from the City of Cullman with Distribution at one way fares of $6.00 for one way over 15 miles, $4.00 for one way from 8 to 15 miles, $2.00 one way from 0-7 miles, and $1.00 in town. Elderly and disabled receive a fifty percent discount; children ten and under must be accompanied by an adult. There are no planned service changes. The capital grant will also provide financial assistance to purchase wheelchair lift equipped light transit vehicles for the Cullman Area Rural Transportation System during FY 2016. Copies of the detailed service description proposed change and project budget may be obtained at the transit system office, 1950 Beech Ave. SE, Cullman, Alabama between 8:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. Monday through Friday. A public hearing will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 10:00a.m. in the County Courthouse Room 105, 500 Second Avenue SW, Cullman, Alabama for public comment.
