“LET THE BIBLE SPEAK”
Many fail to appreciate the immense value of the Bible. The Bible contains God’s written revelation to mankind. The Bible is the book of all books. It tells of man’s origin; his purpose on the earth; and his eternal destiny. The Bible, unlike any other book is divinely inspired. Paul, the Apostle wrote to Timothy, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work,” 2 Tim. 3:16-17. Peter wrote, “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”2 Pet 1:20-21. One such holy man, was the prophet Jeremiah who wrote, “But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay,” Jer. 20:9. The prophet Isaiah provides us with this account of his com mission :
“Then flew one of the seraphim unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: and he touched my mouth with it, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin forgiven. And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, Here am I; send me,” Isa. 6:6-8. Jesus stressed the authority and inspiration of the scriptures. Following his resurrection he told his disciples, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures,” Lk 22:44-45. On another occasion Jesus said, “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me,” John 5:39-40. We are greatly blessed to have the written revelation of God in the Bible.
