“LET THE BIBLE SPEAK”
We should stand in awe of the Word of God. How blessed we are to have easy access to God’s Word recorded in the Bible. The human race is in dire need of the wonderful guiding light of God’s Word. We are reminded in the words of Jeremiah, “O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps,” Jer. 10:23. No matter how educated, intelligent, and talented one may be, the scriptures reveal our inadequacy in making our way through life without the guiding power of God’s Word. The all-knowing God of heaven has given us His Word for a light as we grope about in a world of sin and darkness. How many pitfalls in life’s experiences might be avoided if we were listening to God? The Psalmist expressed praise to God for the illuminating power of His Word: “How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through Your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to my
feet and a light to my path,” Ps. 119:103-105. The Word of God leads and guides us safely through this life and brings us safely to eternity’s shore, when we heed its powerful message. This world is fleeting, but the Word of God is eternal. Jesus said, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away,” Matt. 24:35. The Apostle Peter wrote of the incorruptible seed, in his epistle: “…….having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because ‘All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, But the word of the Lord endures forever.’ Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you,” 1 Pet 1:23-25. There is a saving power in the Word of God. James wrote, “…………and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls,” James 1:21.
