(Published In THE TIMES, Mayes County, Oklahoma November 29, 2015) November 16, 2015 The Board of Mayes County Commissioners met in a regularly scheduled meeting with all members present: Ryan Ball, Chairman, Kevin Whiteside and Darrell Yoder, Members, and Brittany True-Howard, County Clerk. The initial notice of the meeting was received in writing December 15, 2014, and the agenda for this meeting was posted on the lower floor of the Court House at 4:30 p.m., November 12, 2015. Ryan Ball called the meeting to order in compliance with the Open Meeting Law and the following business was done: Commissioner Ball led the Pledge of Allegiance. Commissioner Ball said the Invocation. Motion made by Commissioner Yoder, seconded by Commissioner Ball, to approve the minutes of November 9, 2015. Ball, Yes; Whiteside, Yes; Yoder, Yes. OLD BUSINESS: NONE NEW BUSINESS: NONE Dr. Paul Mobley was present to discuss storm shelters in schools. He would like the board to consider putting on the Agenda and voting to mandate storm shelters for schools per the Oklahoma Uniform Building Code. The Commissioners do not believe anything as been adopted for them to be able to vote on this. The Commissioners noted that as a County we do not issue Building Permits. Kali Strain A.D.A will check on this. Joe Brown from VFW Post 5307 presented Commissioner Ball with a Certificate for the job he did on the road by their post. They appreciate him being straight up about the project. Motion was made by Commissioner Yoder, seconded by Commissioner Ball, to approve Court Clerk monthly reports. Motion was made by Commissioner Ball, seconded by Commissioner Whiteside, to approve the following access agreements with Mayes County District 3: Joyce Wall, to remove tree and stumps to access drainage culverts; Catherine Casida, to clear debris and reclaim rip rap; Ronald Blackwell, to doze trees and building to access road around low water slab. Ball, Yes; Yoder, Yes; Whiteside, Yes. Motion was made by Commissioner Yoder, seconded by Commissioner Whiteside, to approve resolution to select from ODOTs prequalified engineering firms. It is their desire to choose Guy Engineering for county bridge inspections. Ball, Yes; Whiteside, Yes; Yoder, Yes. Motion was made by Commissioner Ball, seconded by Commissioner Yoder, to enter executive session, upon advice of legal counsel, for the purpose of discussing the purchase of real property, Old Mayes County Jail and/or portion thereof. Public disclosure of these communications would impair the ability of the Board to properly discuss said possible purchase. As such, the communications in Executive Session are confidential.
